Hello again,
It has been an interesting week with good stuff and not so good stuff. One of my favorite things from this past week was talking to a tourist from Malaysia. He was a really big, jolly guy and he spoke pretty good English. He said that everyone in Malaysia learns English in school and they can all speak fairly well. (In Japan, they all learn English but they can't speak it at all) He was way super friendly and we had a nice discussion about religion. He has never seen missionaries before in Malaysia (and I have never heard of missionaries being sent there), but Malaysia has religious freedom. He was a way cool guy, and I hope that one day he will have the chance to accept the gospel.
We have a baptism coming up on Sunday, and we are way excited. It sounds like I will be the one baptizing again (unless we can't find another piano player). It should be a great day.
General Conference for us won't be until next weekend because it takes a week to translate into Japanese (but the missionaries get to watch it in English). Everyone is going to the stake center, which is about a 20 minute car-ride from where we live. We are pretty excited, it should be a great time.
Since yesterday was the 31st, we went to Baskin Robbins 31 and got ice cream for 31% off. So instead of being about $5.70, it was only about $4.00. That is still way expensive, but the ice cream was super delicious and very satisfying.
Today for p-day we went to a science museum. It was pretty cool, but we were really slow at moving from station to station and I got bored near the end. My favorite part was the planetarium, where a I got a nice 20 minute nap. It was my first nap in Japan, and it felt great.
I also got my first Japanese haircut today. It cost $15, but was really good. They cut it, trim it, wash it, and then dry and style it. It is a very thorough process. We were actually in a hurry, and I didn't really want to get my hair washed and styled, but I figured it would offend the barber if I told him so, so I just stayed quiet and let us be late.
Wow, I guess I don't have a whole lot to say this week. I look forward to getting that package. Thank you so much for all your love. Have a great week. I love you.
