Thanks for another great letter. I got the package this week and loved it. Thank you so much for everything. It was all super awesome to get, especially the missionary book. I showed all of the other elders in our apartment and thought it was way cool. They are all the first of the kids in their families to go on missions, so they thought it was cool to see all of my older siblings and where they served.
So many people in Japan work like crazy so that they don't lose their jobs. But then they have no time to spend with their families (or to meet with the missionaries). We are finding it very difficult to help investigators and new converts progress because we can never meet with them. They are just too busy!
Anyways...it has been a good week. Last week when we went to the science museum we discovered some public access computers that will probably never be busy during the day. So now we have a great place to email every week - it makes me very happy.
Something cool that happened on Sunday. Jared, a 15-year old American kid (his family lives in Furano and goes to our ward), came up to me after church with a tube of toothpaste. He said, "hey, I stumbled on your blog on the internet this week. You said you needed toothpaste, so here you go." It was way cool and way weird that someone in Japan, who just happens to speak English, stumbled upon my lowly blog. So it is proof that blogs are awesome.
Another cool experience from this past week: on Monday we met a nice lady from Denmark that is going to be a professor at a local college starting this week. She doesn't speak much Japanese (even though she has been in Japan for the last 20 years), so she was way happy to talk to us. We got to talk all about who we are and what we are doing to Japan. She actually seemed a lot more interested in that than most Japanese people. It was weird talking to her about religion because she is Protestant - we rarely get to talk to people that have a Christian background. Anyways, she was very happy to find out that my name is Christensen and that my ancestors are Danish. One day we really need to go visit. It would be way cool, and they all speak fluent English.
I am super excited for General Conference this weekend. It was weird on Sunday being at church and knowing that you were going to be at conference that day. This past week I have read a lot from the November Ensign, and it is all so good. I am sad that I won't get to be part of the priesthood session tradition with the family the next few conferences. Maybe we'll go out for ice cream here in Japan, even though it is way expensive.
