Guess what? I get to email this week! Because Elder Willis has been sick, we came up to Asahikawa on Monday night and have been here since. It gave me a chance to finally get out and do some missionary work while another missionary stayed with Elder Willis. But he seems to be doing pretty good now, and we are hoping to be able to return to Iwamizawa tonight.
But next week we will be back in Asahikawa for a Zone activity and interviews with President Daniels, and I should get to email again. So exciting. Our new email is run through Gmail and it is so much better!
So, my week hasn't been super busy, but yet there was still quite a bit to write about in my journal. Last Wednesday we got invited for dinner over at Sister Iwane's house with President and Sister Otahara. It was way fun, and great to strenghten our relationship with Sister Iwane and her daughter. On Sunday she gave us some treats and then said "I was debating whether or not to give these to everyone because it is Fast Sunday and all. So just eat these after you are done with your fast." Way cool! She has only been a member for a few months, and she is already talking about fasting as though it is a normal part of her life.
On Friday we went to the hospital and that was crazy. They don't accept credit cards! And they only have one ATM, which just so happens to not accept our cards. The bill ended up being over $700, and we had to pay it all in cash! Trying to understand and communicate with the hospital staff was an interesting task. My Japanese skills were certainly put to the test. But I learned a lot of new words like: insurance certificate, blood test, appendicitis (which my companion luckily does not have), and bloody stool. It was quite an interesting adventure.
Since I was in the apartment so much this week, I certainly got a lot of good studying in. I also experimented with some recipes. I tried making rice pudding and it turned out pretty good.
Well, yesterday was really fun for me. I got to do missionary work in Asahikawa, my bean area from a year ago. I even got to teach English class last night and there were a few old students that still remembered me. I loved it.
That is about it. Have a great week. I love you all.
