48 Cans of Root Beer!

There are going to be 3 Americans coming (I think), and this will be the biggest group of incoming missionaries in the past year or so.
This past week has been pretty good. We got to see General Conference and I have finally started to pull out of my recent slump of not being able to set appointments. We have had our rough times, like showing up to a lesson with a member team-up only to have the investigator tell us that they no longer had time to meet. That happened twice this week. Getting stood up is a normal part of missionary work, but getting stood up when you bring a member along with you just hurts. But there is really nothing we can do about that now.
General Conference was really good. A certain Elder Tashiro was called as an area seventy - his son came to this mission when I did and we have served together a lot. I barely caught that his name was called because President Uchtdorf pronounced it with a Spanish accent. The other two elders that I was watching conference with didn't realize that the name Tashiro had been said. And one of those elders used to be companions with Elder Tashiro.
A couple of days ago a really nice member gave us tons of root beer! He gave the four of us 48 cans! That is like liquid gold for Americans in Japan. So we will be enjoying root beer for the next few weeks.
Missionary work is harder than ever, but I keep pushing along, trying to improve. Thanks for all of your support and love. Sorry that this email is a little short, but I don't have a lot of time. I love you. Elder Christensen
