Good Bye Elder Lowry

Hi Family!
It sounds like this past week was really busy and really fun. I am sort of jealous. I had a really busy week too, but it was a little different (I'll explain in a bit). I am jealous that you all got Slurpees (and Mom, it is spelled HUGE, not HUGH. That is a guy's name, like Hugh Grant.). They don't have Slurpees in Japan, or anything that closely resembles them.
Well, on to my week. It was crazy. First things first: our mission's p-day is getting switched to Monday. I guess they have asked all of the missions around the world to have p-day on Monday, so that is what we are going to do. So don't forget to email me by Sunday afternoon/evening (American time), or else you won't get a good email in return.
So, the next item of news: Elder Lowry finished up his mission early last Friday.  I was super sad to see him go, because he quickly became one of my favorite companions. He was really fun to work with and a really good missionary. He will probably be going back to BYU in the fall, so maybe we will have to have him over for dinner once I get home, or something like that.
As a result of Elder Lowry leaving, I am now in a threesome companionship with Elder Gandy (from West Valley, UT) and Elder Shoji (from Aomori, Japan). Doing missionary work in a threesome is sort of challenging, but we are making the most of it.
One of the highlights of the week for me was a baptism that they had in Kushiro. When I was on exchanges for nearly a week in Kushiro, I was able to teach and set a baptismal date with an investigator named Ooba san. And he got baptized as planned yesterday! So I got to share in the joy of that baptism, even though I didn't get to be present for it.
On Sunday I got to give a talk in Sacrament Meeting. They asked me in between Priesthood meeting and Sunday School class, so I didn't have any time to prepare. Oh, the joys of being a missionary. But luckily, I was able to give a good talk about unity. I have recently studied a lot about unity because it was the topic for our Zone Leader workshop on Monday at Zone Conference.
I was really nervous for my first Zone Conference as a Zone Leader, but it went pretty well. Everyone seemed to learn and each of the workshops accomplished the purposes for which they were done. After ZC, we got to play Ultimate with a football as an activity, which was a lot of fun.
Another highlight of this week came after our activity: right before heading out the door for some finding, I got an unexpected phone call from Haruki san, our amazing investigator. (The one that has read all of the standard works, including the BoM 3 times through). She called to say "I can get baptized now! My husband said it is alright!" Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! We are meeting with her tomorrow to set up her baptismal date, and I am hoping that she will get baptized next Sunday. I am so excited for her. I don't know why God decided to bless her/us at this time, but I am grateful to be a part of it and help one more person into the waters of baptism.
That is about it for my crazy week. I will probably get a new companion sent my way sometime soon, but until then I will hold tight in our threesome and work my hardest. I will probably get one of the current Assistants to the President as my companion for the next 3 or so weeks. I'll update you on Monday.
Thanks for the great emails. I love you all and am so grateful to be part of the Christensen family. (But I still don't endorse the family motto/slogan/etc.)
