Hi Family!
P-day sure came fast this time around, didn't it? It sounds like life in America is pretty good.
The past few days have been pretty crazy. On Thursday we had a lesson with Haruki san and it went really well. We just reviewed baptism and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I asked her, "Since you got your husband's permission, when do you want to get baptized?" and she was a little surprised and said, "I get to choose!?! Well, how about tomorrow?" She really wants to get baptized as soon as possible. She got interviewed on Friday and is going to get baptized this Wednesday. Plus, the other elders had a baptism this past Saturday. It was great. It was the first baptism in Obihiro this year, which is sad because Obihiro is typically one of the highest baptizing areas in the mission. We are going to get it taking off from now.
I was the one to do the interview for the baptism this past week, and it was my first time ever doing a baptismal interview. Normally you do your first one as a District Leader, but I never got that opportunity. The interview went well, and it made me appreciate the fact that I can actually understand Japanese nowadays. If I would have done an interview 6 months ago, I certainly would have struggled to understand all of the Japanese.
On Thursday night, Elder Tashiro (one of the APs) came out to Obihiro, and he will be with us for approximately two weeks. Oddly enough, he actually isn't really my companion. He is going out and working with us all on a rotating basis. So the past three days I have had three different companions. It is really crazy and makes scheduling stuff pretty hard, but we are all learning a lot.
Saturday night I found a really good 18 year old guy with Elder Gandy. We taught him about the BoM and he had a ton of interest. I went back yesterday (Sunday) with Elder Tashiro and we taught him lesson 1 (The Restoration). It went really well and he understood perfectly. I prayed to start the lesson and after I prayed he said that he had an indescribable feeling. We talked about the Spirit and helped him understand that he was feeling the Spirit. At the end of our lesson he said, "Is there a prophet on the earth today?" He understood the pattern of apostasy and restoration, and so he logically deduced that there should be a prophet in modern days. It was one of the best lessons I have ever participated in.
The best part about it was right as we were going to go out the door. At the beginning of the lesson I had used one of the BoMs from my backpack and it was on the floor in front of him. I said "Oh, I guess you can have a second BoM. If you don't want it, I'll take it." He said, "I'll take it and give it to my roommate." Yay! He is already sharing the gospel!
I anticipate another crazy week, but it will hopefully go well. I anticipate Haruki san's baptism, and we will hopefully set a few more baptismal dates.
Thanks for all the love and emails. I love you all.
